Pursuant to the powers vested by the Local Governance Act (SNB 2017, c.18), the Village de Memramcook can issue by-laws relating to dangerous or unsightly premises, appoint by-law enforcement officers for the local government and fix their mandate. By-law no.31: A by-law of the Village de Memramcook respecting dangerous or unsightly premises has been in effect since its adoption in 2010.
In 2020, the Village de Memramcook sought out the contractual services of Maritime Enforcement Services Inc. as Municipal By-Law Enforcement Officer pertaining to dangerous or unsightly premises. Officers in uniform and in security vehicles patrol the area to monitor and process active files.
The Municipality, along with Maritime Enforcement Services Inc., continues to follow a distinct procedure governed by the Local Governance Act while working with property owners and occupants involved in order to resolve unsafe or unsightly situations within the boundaries of the Municipality.
