A battery-powered drill coming from a residential garbage collection in Memramcook recently caused a small fire in a garbage truck. Fortunately, the fire was quickly brought under control and no one was hurt. This is a good reminder that, to ensure the safety of garbage collectors, batteries - whether small or large - must not be thrown in the trash or in a blue recycling bag.
In Memramcook, the Atelier l'Artisan accepts free household and cell phone batteries. They can be brought to 280 Old Shediac Road from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
